quiet air pump

Neat idea about in the underground air pump

Can you suspend the air pump by a string underneath a cabinet or something. I find most of the noise is from the airpump vibrating on whatever it is sitting on top of. Such as a countertop or shelf in a cabinet. If you can eliminate that by hanging it, that may stop your noise.

what i do is to set the pump on a dish cloth folded over many times, this also eliminates the vibrating noise. It's very simple.

pfft air pumps are nothing, I have a wet/dry filter under my tank in my bedroom luckily once im asleep nothing wakes me except myself..

Skip the airpump and get a canister filter. The canister will put more oxygen in the water if the outflow is near the surface and it will be totally quiet. Your goldfish are probably struggling to breathe due to lack of proper filtration. I think the recommendation is 1 goldfish per 25 gallons of water any more and you will have problems in the long run.

I have an old Elite 799 stuffed in a can cooler (it runs my shrimp tank's sponge filter). It's quiet.

String, towels, coolie cups etc. all help. The only airpump I ever bought that did not require something like that was the original Silent Giant.

i got a whisper air pump on a towel. it is quite nice and makes virtually no noise at all. its great! the hydor is a nice option too though!
