Ive been looking at air pumps number 1 factor for me is noise though. I dont mind paying the cash for a quality pump as long as I dont have to hear it. My choices are Hagen, Rena, or Stellar. Any one got some feedback on these?
Rena would probably be your best bet. It's not TOTALLY silent, but it's the closest. I have 2 whispers and 1 rena and the rena is by far the quietest of them.
I did a lot of research before investing in an air pump and have found the Rena to be the quietest one. I now have one for each of my tanks--a 25 gallon and a 6-gallon. They are both in the living room and I can't hear them at all.
I dont think there is a 100 % quite air pump
I love having the bubbles in the tank it made for quite the mermaid like experience but a brother has got to sleep as well.
I switched to surface agitation in order to oxygenize my tanks and it works quite well..plus it gives a nice water running sound ....
Ive heard of people hanging theres on strings putting sponges underneath them enclosing them in something in order to deafen the noise. I guees if you can live with the noise its ok but if the tanks are near you sleeping quarters it could be a problem... Sweet dreams...
