Quiet canister filters

My Fluval 204 (small tank) is the quietest filter I own (other than internal whisper 10i) I heard the 4 and 5 series are better than the old 3 series but I dont know why.

if you want quiet, get the magnum 350

my silent air pump is lounder than the filter, and the only way to tell it is on, is to look at the water flow in the tank

Running Sera canisters here, totally silent also, though availability as far as I know seems mostly limited to Europe and Australia/NZ, though I could be wrong.

Can check them out at http://www.sera.de/

I have a Magnum 350 regular style and it's extremely quiet...They didn't have the bio-wheel version but i just bought it separately and can't wait for it to arrive

Sometimes I have to touch the tops of the filters to make sure they are running, and they are easy to clean with the lift out baskets.
This is the first comment I've read here indicating the Filstars are quiet. I've read many comments where people like their performance but I've read comments where people indicate they are somewhat to very noisy.

EDIT: In fact, I was going to NOT try one of the Filstars due to the noise comments I've read here.

Peace...

I have an XP3 and i am very happy with the no noise level. It is also a dream to clean. Best bang for the buck IMO.

I have a xp1 and the only time I hear anything but current is sometime after I clean the filter a little buzz swish for a couple hours purging the last of the air out. :thm:

I would have got an Eheim if they were not 3x the price of the Fluval with 1/2 the flow rate...

But my fluval is the quietest filter I own (other than internal whisper 10 I that flows next to nothing in comparison), and my Aquaclear 50 is the loudest by quite a bit even with the difuser sponge in the output.

My Eheim classic 2213 is pretty quiet. Not silent though. Anybody who says one is silent is a little deaf :D As there is still a sound but just very very very quiet.
