Quiet canister filters

I have to put my ear right on my eheim to hear it, and then its hard to hear...

I have an XP3 and I have to say its been a great filter and very quiet. Best bang for the buck (I got it for $95). I cant compare them with other canisters since I have not used any other canisters and I like to be honest.

All external filters make some humming noise, Eheim are probably the quietest though.

I have 7 Filstars running, I hardly notice them making any noise. The longer I've had them, the quiter they got. My oldest filstar is 3 years old. I have 2 eheim pros also, which are totally silent. IMO, Filstars are easier to maintain and are better mechanical filters. Filstars will save you money and use less electricity. Eheims have a longer history and a better track record.

If it was my 100g tank, I'd probably get 2 Filstar xp2's.
