Quietest Air Pump for an 8 tank rack?

Once you get the pump depending upon where you place it you could make a simple sound proof box that covers it made of something as simple as wire hand bent galvanized caging (chicken wire) covered by any kind of open cell thick foam fabric or box padding. As long as it can breath well the foam will kill any residual noise. If it were me and I had a stack of multiple tanks, I would try placing it in the attic above and run the piping down from the ceiling. There are all kids of ways, but remember the pump must have good ventilation so it can take in clean air and ventilate pump heat.

Steverd, just to make your decision more difficult, I would recommend getting an Alita Linear air pump. I am using an AL-15A to run six tanks with sponge filters and still have to bleed surplus air off the manifold. I've been running it for almost 1 year and it is extremely quiet. I cannot hear the pump running over the noise of the sponge filters.

Here's a video I just made to compare my old EcoPlus Commerical 3 air pump to my new Jehmco Diaphragm 20 pump. What do you think?

It also show a few guppy tanks and a few shrimp tanks including my Crystal Red Shrimp tank at the beginning of the video.
