hey all, I was just wondering if anyone had/has quite drinking coffee cold turkey?
I am on day two of not drinking coffee. While I don't miss the actually drinking of the coffee in the morning, I feel just "blaaaaahhhh" and have absolutly no energy. All I want to do is curl up and go back to sleep. this lasts all day.
Can any one tell me, is this normal? how long will I feel this way? I thought it would make me feel better, but so far I feel worse.
Thanks!

Well, I switched from coffee to hot tea, but not "Lipton" tea-bag hot tea. I use loose-leaf black tea -- PG Tips or Typhoo. Of course, if the reason you're giving up coffee has to do with reducing or eliminating your caffeine intake, then switching to hot tea would be pointless. Maybe green tea. :yuck::yuck: :yuck: (As you can tell, I'm not a fan of green tea.)

I quit and got the obligatory caffeine withdrawal headaches. I found that by eating breakfast and then doing something gave me more energy than before. I also cut back on salt and sugar. That too has had an impact.

You could try eating an apple instead of coffee in the morning. They are actually more efficient in waking you up.

I had to go caffeine free for a few weeks last yer. I didn't get to much withdrawl but I was groggy and more cranky. I started sustituting hot chocolate or caffiene free tea instead of coffee but that was because it was winter and I needed to stay warm. I heard eating a banana at breakfast can help perk one up a bit.

That is just an ugly thought. I quit smoking and drinking. They can't have anything else.

I never was much of a drinker, but I think one major addiction a year is enough for me....oddly enough, before I quit smoking, I only smoked away from work and only drank coffee at work. Now I just drink coffee at work (and on the way to work).

I had to cut back though...I was starting to get too jittery

If I might chime in.

Try switching to fair trade organic coffee, it is what I use in my restaurant for 2 reasons. 1-the people who grow the stuff should get fair market value for their work. 2-many beans have bad things put on them to preserve them and sometimes it is these preservatives that really mess up people not the caffine.

I quit coffee after about 20 years . Used to be the first thing I had to do in the morning. It's been many years since I quit the routine and now I only drink it on weekends sometimes . I started taking Ginseng in the little bottles in the morning before work, that has kept me going for many years now !
