Rainbow fish questions

thanks folks! My friend is going to a fish club auction in Champaign IL tomorrow and I gave her a list, lol. I have to work, darn it.
She's also going to one of the best LFS in downstate IL, and is going to see what they carry. I may make a road trip if they have any of these down there.
 
hmm this great LFS in downstate that you talk of.... how far down the state exactly is it? LOL because you can't get much farther down than me. :cool:
 
It is downstate for some, but VERY upstate from you saray. IL is such a darned tall state. Nursie, while I was down there Sailfin rarely had any rare or exciting rainbows. They usually had boes, praecox, red, turquoise and australian. Occasionally they had herbertaxelrodi, which are quite striking. How big is the fish club auction going to be? Maybe I will have to take a trip tomorrow...
 
If you're specifically look for reds, why not try the "red rainbowfish" or irian rainbow? Glossolepis incisus. Get about the same size as boesmanis.

The ones they have around here are quite nice.

Here's an old pic of one of my goyders; it does no justice. That fish colored up soo nicely.
