I am currently negotiating the purchase of an established 55 gallon tank from the classified adds. It has 3 full grown angelfish in it. I'm really buying it for the tank, not the fish. I am not going to jump the gun and rehome the angelfish because I've never had them before and I may find that I like them, but I have been dying to have a rainbow shark for some time. What is the likelihood that he would do well with the angelfish if I got him?

It depends on the temperament of the fish themselves, but it would most likely work out fine. I had a rainbowfish in with a couple of nearly fully grown angels and they got along famously.

Good! I'm glad to hear it. I hope I end up getting this tank. The guy is asking $200 for it, which is a reasonable price, but I have found some similar setups for $150. I am asking him to come down on his price because his tank is my favorite, but if he is firm at $200 then I'm going to buy one of the $150 setups.

Oops, I meant rainbow shark in my last post, lol.

What else comes with the tank? Even $150 sounds pretty steep for a 55g.

I agree wit that, $150 sounds a little pricey for a used tank, unless it is coming with the fish plus the complete setup, and a canister filter. Then I would say it's a pretty good deal.

It is a lightly used 55 gallon tank with 3 angelfish, full hood, lights, wooden stand with cupboard in it, Ac 70 hob filter, gravel, lava rocks and fake plants. Is that a good value at $200? Or should I stick it out for a better deal? I don't want to get a bad deal because I'm so impatient to get a larger tank.

I would stick it out for a better deal. You can buy a brand new 75 gallon at Petsmart for $200.00. If you invest in the filter and such you could get it for $300. So I think $200 is high for a used tank.

Are they that cheap at petsmart with the hood, lights and stand?! Last time I priced it out it was like $500.
