My husband and I are building a new tank. It will be about 183.5 gallons. Since construction hasn't started, we have time to contemplate the future inhabitants.

Right now I'd like to do one rainbow shark, 1 electric blue jack dempsey and six tinfoil barbs. Research suggests that the dempsey and barbs are fine but does anyone know if the rainbow shark will fit? AND is this overstocking for a tank that size? Last question - anyone know what type of "cleaner" (i.e. shrimp) might be safe in such a tank?

Any responses appreciated. Like I said I have time and want to do the research beforehand

a gravel siphon makes is the best cleaner, it's the only thing that eats fish waste. I would'nt do the tinfoil barbs - they get to be about 16" and them alone would be overstocking the tank. I would use buenos aires tetras instead of them, there big enough to not get eaten but small enough that you could have about 20-30 of them in there, and there also really fast swimmers when they want to be (I warn you now, they like to splash people while eating), BUT a while ago I read of them and red tailed sharksnt getting along, so I would exclude the shark and substitue a green teror or texas cichlid for them. However, it's your tank, and I think it would be better if you do some research and decide for yourself.

look here for ideas.
