rainbow shark residents

Well, being a relatively newbie kinda guy... I'm not sure when a fish goes from being a juvie to an adult. However, I got them back in July and one was a little bigger than the other. The smaller one would be just under three inches now with the bigger one now at four inches (not including tails).

I recently purchased a rainbow shark and its in a 30g with 4 cherry barbs and a dwarf gourami im wondering what to get next but im not sure whats near enough to 100% compatable im thinking flying foxes or pictus catfish???? any thing wrong with them?? i would love to hear your suggestions.p.s the barbs and gourami are moving in time for the new arivals.

Pictus all the way.

I didn't start having problems with mine until he was about 5 inches long. They don't really get aggressive until they mature, and the older they get, the worse it gets. You may be lucky and not have any problems, but as they age, I would keep an eye on them ;)

Yes, i see what you mean. Mine is quite big at the moment and i always keep my eye on him but usualy he sits in his cave scaring off any intuders (gourami)

Mine seemed to do the opposite, was pretty mean when I first got em but now that he is big seems like he is much layzier. I have just recently added 6 little SAE's (like 1.5") and he hasnt seemed to bother them at all. When my loaches (usually the yoyos) get near his spot he chases them away though. Of course he could always get meaner again I am sure.

Ok, after a few conflicts between the two, the shark and gourami have settled together(shark being the alpha fish) with the occasional chase but its playfull (i think) but now the subject is whats gonna go in the tank next???
