a while ago i was asking if anyone new what type of fish i had. i thought it was either a red tail botia loach or a redtail shark. i came to realize that it was a rainbow shark. and i also found out that they can only be housed singally in the aquarium. i was always wondering why they were fighting. well after my fish were sick from the addition of a lfs's fish, and i cured it. they had ich and cloudy eye. my one shark is now blind, he doesnt even have eyes. well, now the other nows it and picks on him a lot. so today i tried to put the blind one in my 20gal that just recently finished cycling, and he hated it. he kept trying to jump out. so i put him back in the 55gal, and hope he is as tough as he thinks he is.

No offense, but you're ignorant.

If a blind fish is spazzing out, your water params are not correct.

Secondly, a blind fish just went through the stress of being captured and moved, LET HIM ACCLIMATE.

And if you're just gonna toss him back in to be tortured to death, just be a man and kill it, save it the hassle of a slow painful death at the hands of another fish.

I swear, even fish handling should require a license :/

thanx for bein a jerk! i thought this was a place for kind help in a hobby were everyone is bound to make mistakes, but i guess your perfect, sorry

Dude you didn't ask for ANY help, you tell us a story of a wounded fish you decided to toss back in at the mercy of an aggressive fish.

What are we suppose to do, comfort you?

It's really common sense, I'm done here, let the others say anything if they need too.

a blind fish swims around because he is afriad, just as all fish do, not because of water parameters. blind fish, dogs, cats, etc. come to know their surroundings after a while and know where everything is. putting him in another, totally different tank was very stressful. i would put him back in the 20 gallon and have him be the only fish in the tank. take out all fo the decor and substrate except perhaps a cave or two for him to hang out in, but make sure that if you have a cave in there, its from the 55 gallon. he will be fine with no substrate and other decor and it will probably be best for him to only have a cave. he can grow and live his life and be happy even though he is blind.

i put my point across without flaming the origional poster. most people do not know what to do with imapired fish, for they often act differently than normal fish because of their dissability.

hey llama:

No offense, but you're ignorant.
is an oxymoron and not helpful. some advice for you ... if you have nothing helpful to add, best not add anything.

If a blind fish is spazzing out, your water params are not correct.
that's quite a leap of faith you've taken without knowing the actual parameters of jerzsky's water. moreover, it's probably not true. a fish that cannot see is at a severe disadvantage in a tank of other fish which may be perceived as predatory, the the 'spazzing out' behaviour may be a fear reaction to a strange environment.

i like jm1212's advice

As I then said, let it acclimate.

And telling someone they are ignorant is NOT insulting.

There is a BIG difference between ignorant and stupid.

Therefor, it is not an oxymoron.

ANyhow, I apologize for snapping, but wow it gets annoying when people don't ask for help, and make comments like "I hope hes as tough as he thinks he is"

Again, he asked for no help, in my eyes, merely mocked the poor fish.

i think most would disagree with you.

There is a BIG difference between ignorant and stupid
while this may be true, being called ignorant or stupid is bound to be taken as an insult.

as i stated before, better not to post a response at all if there's potential for it to be taken wrong. perhaps next time, take a few deep breaths and think about what you are going to say ... and then don't say it.
