Rainbows in a 40 ?

Hey Uncabret...before you order...you might check with a couple of central illinois fish stores.
Sailfin in Champaign is great, and Fish Man in Springfield I hear is awesome. They may have some in stock or order for you. Charlies in Pekin is where I got my Bosemanis, and he's had various rainbows before. I need to go look there myself for some. Our fish auction is coming soon, and someone brought a ton of dwarf neon rainbows last time. I got 3 and want more.

Shipping is such a bite out of your pocketbook...I know a roadtrip isn't cheap, but at least you get some entertainment.
Actually, a roadtrip would be fun! Do you (or anyone) have phone numbers and/or website addresses for these places? And when and where is the fish auction?

AAAAAAAAAUUUUGGGGGH!!!!!!

After looking at the pics on AquaBid I'm even more confused as to what I want!!

Do you think I could put 6 Praecox, 6 Milleniums and 6 Parvas in a 40g breeder with some red lipped botias and maybe a few otos?

I'm no expert on rainbows, but I can't imagine three schools of them swimming around in my 40 BR. Two schools perhaps, but not three.

ROFL!
Now you know why I have 3x75g! It's SO hard to make a decision.

I agree with Aqualung. Two schools, not three in a 40g :)

Colorwise, I'd go with Praecox and one of the others. You might want to consider parva instead of pseudoincisus. If the pseudoincisus get as red as people say, then they will make the praecox fade into the background and outshine them. Just my two cents, YMMV.

My parvas are just starting to red up and they are going to be gorgeous! My milleniums are still very small, very slim -- slimmest rainbow I've got -- and one of the males is getting its reds now. If they stay close to this small, I'm probably going to breed instead of buy more.

Actually, my DGs are great. I have 2 red neon and 4 powder blues in a 20g high. They occasionally chase each other around a bit, but no serious problems.

At least, not until I try to introduce another fish. Then they all gang up on the new guy.
