I brought 3 blue rainbow fish last week, they had a nice irridescant blue colour in the shop, when I brought them home they went a bit dull but after a day or so they began to brighten up, now, a week later, although the blue has come out more it's gone a very dull, dark, inky blue. The water stats are fine and I'm feeding them a mixture of flake, brineshrimp and bloodworm. Is there any thing else I can do, or should not be doing.
Mine tend to shimmer the blue only when light is hitting them whether it is natural light or your tank light. They just have a plane silver color when they are in the darker areas of the tank. Plus your males are more brilliant and have redder fins then your females and seem to be more colorfull in the morning. At least that is the way it has been for mine..I have two males and two females at least I think so because of the color difference. The differences became very obvious as they matured.
Cheers for your reply Snitz, I'm not entirely sure what kind of rainbows they are but no red on the fins, maybe I have all females. I just did a water change and they seem a tiny bit more brighter. I will keep an eye on them.
Good point,,, I should of asked but then you don't know...My boseman changes colors too I think that is what they do hence the name rainbow. I was talking about my 4 dwarf neon rainbows earlier,,,very cool little fish.
