Raising salinity??

My salinity in my 55 gallon reef tank is currently between 1.022 and 1.023. I would like to slowly raise it to 1.025 to 1.026. I am doing a 10 gallon water change in the next few days. If a make the 10 gallons I am adding 1.026 will this be too much of a jump?

the difference between the water you have and the water you're adding is about .0035 SG units. if you're doing a 10 gallon change on a 55, that's roughly 18% Multiply .0035 by .18 and you get the final figure. The salinity should go up about .00063. Not too big of a jump;)
 
evaporation in your tank might make it raise faster than the water change.
 
Water changes, coupled with evaporation, is even better. Just evaporation will result in a serious concentration of other wastes--not good for the tank. Instead of topping off, do a small water change and replace the volume lost to evaporation as well.
 
[oh, i didn't mean to just let water evaporate, i meant that if your wating for the water change in a few days, depending on lighting/open top... the change in salinity could be more of a difference than just the water change itself. :o ]
 
Figured--just wanted to clarify. ;) Didn't want anyone to think it was okay to just let water evaporate in a stocked tank to bring up the salinity.
 
At which rate should I add stock salt to raise my pond salinity 5ppt?
