Hi,
I too was interested in German Blue Rams.
I went on google and did a search and a lot of sites poped up regardiing the care, water parameters, and the breeding of them. They are quite a popular fish. They also require certain water parameters that may be difficult to keep for some, like weekly water changes and keeping the water's chemistry just so. They are very tempermental about the water they live in.
I think that you are doing the wisest thing by researching about them before you purchase them.
I also read about Bolivian Rams, which are a lot easier to keep and more forgiving when it comes to water parameters. I decided upon 5 Bolivians (2 males and 3 females) and have enjoyed them ever since. They are not as colorful as the GB variety but they have the same wonderful personality and I find them to be more out in the open and not as shy as the GBs and Goldens. They are very peaceful tank mates with other tank members.
I had 2 Goldens in the past but I returned them for the Bolivians, which I am much happier with.
Good luck in your research and set-up.
