My rams laid eggs just two days after having put them in the 10g. They are the only fish in there and the water is all fine everything was pre-established before having put them in there. They take shifts hovering over them, its great. But now im in a whole new fishy world. I have never had anything like this. What do I do now? How long will it take for them to hatch. etc etc. when they do hatch what am I to do with the fry as far as feeding, do I take them out of that tank and put them in another or what. any input would be great

Hello wwildcats04,

Congrat on your fisrt batch of ram eggs!

There are plenty of posts and excellent suggestions on how to raise baby blue rams lately in this forum that I don't think I can summarize them as nicely as going thru those...Just do a search on "blue rams" on this forum alone, then there may be more posts in the General forum.

Cheers,

They will hatch in about 2 days and won't need any feeding until the yolk sac is gone. It's a good idea to put some live plants like java moss in there so the fry can feed on the infusoria that lives in and around plants. Until they get large enough for brine shrimp or powdered fry food. I used some "first feedings" made by Hakari for my baby rams..and then went to a "micro pellet" food after that. They grew very well and looked great when I sold them.

Make sure you keep the water good and clean. Plenty of clean fresh water changes also helps the growth of the fry.
