you may have no issues if the structure provided enough territory, line of sight disruption, hiding places.
I just want you to know that their behavior is difficult to predict and there can be extremes and when pairs for my this adds to possible issues.
but done right you minimize the impacts.
btw Ramirezi tend to form stronger pair bonds compared to Altispinosa..
IME alti's(bolivians) may form weak pair bonds and the male may spawn with more than one female..
Sweet. So, if they get too aggressive and I have to separate them, how would they do with guppies and danios and cory cats and snails? Should I just run a backup tank? I have a 10 gallon QT, but the rams need like 30 gallons at least. If I have to put one or two that get picked on in my 55 community tank with the above fish, would they be ok until I can get them a separate tank?
A couple of picked on fish could be rehomed in the 55g, no problem. Rams do great in community tanks. You could also use the 10g for a single ram if need be.
Isnt the 100g also a community tank?
Yeah the cories are awesome, they'd look great. Hmm you might be bable to add shrimp im not sure if they would be eaten or not.
Good luck and please add pics!
Good idea!
You will have the top layer in a 100GL for other fish like Angels, Rainbows,Discus...
As Star_rides stated, lots of cover, you can get plants here or on planted tank forum at very low prices.
Make sure when you buy rams you get them from a trusted source!
hi i was reading this and though i am no fish expert i thought i'd put my two cents in i have 2bolivian and 1 gbr in my 55 s/a community tank with no poroblems although this may be cause it looks like i have all males anyhow the tank is loaded with caves, cubbies and plants and the little guys seem fine the only problem i've had is with my serape tetras harassing the rams! lol
