ramshorns and mts eat bba algae?

The nerites were in a tank with plenty of food sources they choose to eat BBA.... I think I got some of the dumber nerites of the hatching they have done some stupid stuff.:)

How can something be correct but not true, they either eat it or they don't....

It doesn't matter if they are the best at it or just nibble here and there the fact is they do eat it. No they are not in any way a way to control it and I never claimed they were, but as the poster who started this in his WTB thread and as I have stated that we have both seen it work for us.

So to state something that for you dosen't work as fact, but for others has worked then is wrong. I do agree that finding the root cause and controlling it is always a better option, but for some they just don't want to know or even care to learn how to do it another way, and have found something that seems to work for them so they want to continue on with what they have seen work.

Sometimes we as forum member are too quick to jump with the bible of fish keeping instead of stepping back and saying hey if it works for you then more power to you. Lord knows I have been guilty of the same thing.... and sometimes it is justified...

i not trying to be mean or anything just never heard of them eating bba till now,
now that we know they will there still not helping anyone with there algae problem in the end :headshake2:

Was typing my response as you were I do not think you are being mean open disscussion and debate are things that improve the hobby for everyone. I agree with you in the fact that I would never recommend it as a control method, but just the fact that they do eat it.

And if I come across harsh myself it is not intended snails are a passion of mine....

I have a 10 gallon tank with several Assassin snails and plenty of pond snails. The tank is near a window, and when it housed a Betta the algae was a problem. The pond snails have to be keeping it under control.
