ranting about websense

Study Hall ≠ Studying lol. Study Hall = Last Minute Homework cause you forgot Hall XD

But really... in 12th grade with their colleges already selected (and in some cases already garenteed a place) most kids just don't care. Me... I'm going to Comm College, so I do care about the grades this year...

Just trying to prepare you for the real world when you don't get to stay on the internet all day. If you try then you find that big brother is indeed watching every single website you went to, every email you wrote as well as all those facebook messages you left. People really do get fired for that crap.

FF, TRAVIS, SIV!!! I'm about to pull my internet Mom card and ground your lil butt!! You care NO MATTER! :nilly:

Do they have anti-cell phone rules?

As for proxies, try googling "free proxy a day" it's a google site so it shouldn't be blocked. Usually one or two of those work for me.

One of the things I do at the school I work at is finding the websites that kids shouldn't be using at school, as well as blocking proxies. At my school if you circumvent our filter by using a proxy you get into considerably more trouble than if you simply get on a bad website. You school's policy may vary, but around here you earn a suspension at minimum. Also, we can still find out what websites you visited while using the proxy and block them (and the proxy) anyway.

Well, at my school the proxy usually gets blocked by the next day, but no one gets in trouble for using them. I would like to note that just because I know this stuff doesn't mean I'm the "bad techi kid" or anything lol. I found out from a buddy and rarely use proxies (needed to do some stuff on YouTube once, and check up on a web site I go to, but that was it). All the other sites I go on aren't blocked by the security anyway, and my grades stay above the C range, so I'm good.

I just can't get over kids ranting and angry that their public schools, that are supported through tax money, will not allow them to get on the internet to play during school hours. Is this the future of our country, adults at work whining because they must perform their work and are not able to piddle around on the internet all day?

IMHO, the future of the world is that it will

A) end on December 24th this year.

B) collapse into chaos and war because of dwindling resources and wasteful practices.

C) the population enslaved by those with money

D) nuclear apocalypse

E) Who the crap knows.

I doubt people wanting to get on the internet will have much an effect, as they grow up quickly. I certainly did when I got my job. Wouldn't think of slacking off now :) (except in school of course lol). It does annoy me when I see people texting or sleeping in Physics class of all things... I actually like that class, so it's VERY annoying to see. So I can understand ur perspective here.

As a network administrator, I made it a point to review where the kids visited and blocked them out. I also looked to see what computer was being used and what time. It made it easy to figure out who the culprit was. We never made it a big issue unless it was porn. What used to get me, is the kids thought they were pulling a fast one. They had no clue just how much we knew about their habits. Contrary to popular belief, proxies don't stop packet sniffers or port usage tracking.

You are there to learn - not surf the internet. If you can't resist, it's your life you're wasting not mine.

i would take over their comp and close the programs and they wonder why its not working right good times lol
