Nice wood. Will need to be weighted down, but, I think it would leech a lot of tannins so it's be AWESOME for a blackwater environment.

Yes, should be great for blackwater. I started to soak it and got a LOAD of tannins. Took it out cuz I was going out of town and never got it going again...and then lost the plecos I had wanted it for in the meantime.

hmmmm....i've been eyeballin cyphrus for the 46 tank. Quick question...current occupants of tank are goldfish, seprae tetras, black neons and high fin plec. Will this wood be good for these guys?

I can't answer that one "fer shure", maybe post that Q in the FW forum...or maybe someone will answer here. I suspect the GF won't care as long as it is fed, has clean water and isnt too warm :)

It will definitely give you Tea-color water tho...at least for awhile.

Not concerned with the tannis leaching...I actually like the brownish tint to it. I'm more curious with the type of wood for an aquarium.

In my opinion wood is wood. As long as it is safe for the aquarium, then it is prolly fine.
