Can anyone tell me what makes a fish have rapid twitching? I have 2 clowns that are doing it I had a angelfish that was doing it last night and was died this morning. Please help
Hmmm, excessive twitching and scratching are classic signs of one of several problems in your tank; ranging from pathogens to ammonia, nitrite etc.
Let's start by reviewing your tank history, set up, water parameters.
ok I have a sw120 gallon tank. I cycled 2 months ago. I first put in 2 clown and 2 catfish(sharks) then a week later put in a rock beauty angel and a yellow tang then added 2 horseshoe crabs then later 4 turbo snails about a week and a half ago I added a blue tang and ich broke out. Treated the tank with no ich marine. doing this process the catfish started fighting and I took one of them out. no signs of ich so I used revive for secondary infection on Friday. I noticed that the other catfish was swimming around at night and causing problems and twitching I put him in a net at the top of the tank. After that all the other fish started eating again that night. The angel was acting funning twitching just alittle but she was eating. Saturday morning woke up and the angel was died. Saturday night the clowns were twitching. and that brings us up to today. The yellow tang looks great and so does the blue tang. The clowns are still behaving funny. I have done all my test and everything is perfect. Thanks for any help you can provided.
1. Cycled or not, test your water first thing; ammonia, nitrites.
2. A water change would be a good start also; dilution always helps in any situation. I would discount the loss of the RB, they are a poor choice for marine tanks and most die within a month. The other fish should respond to quality care.
