Rash after putting hand/arm in aquarium

Are these reusable or disposable long gloves? Like the yellow dishwashing gloves maybe, but tighter? Or are they latex/neoprene and come in a pack? I don't recall seeing anything like this at the supermarket...

^ Wow... I... nevermind.

As for your question about non-powdered gloves, yes, the standard sized non-powdered gloves are fine for the fish, but they aren't water tight, so they just fill with the water anyway, defeating their intended purpose (unless your purpose was not to scratch your fingers on tank decor or equipment). To keep yourself from getting a rash from water contact, you want gloves long enough that the top of them remains over the water line.

I've never shopped for them, so I'm afraid I'm of no help there.

i agree with the others that have said the gloves are the way to go. you definitely don't want this turning into a chronic skin issue, or getting worse.

here's a link i found for both re-usable and disposable full arm length gloves. i personally would go with the re-usable 'Aqua Gloves'. the price is actually very reasonable for what you get. http://www.marinedepot.com/maintenance_gloves-ap.html

I have been keeping fish and worked in the industry for over 30 yrs. I never got a rash from tank water. I would try to figure out what caused the rash. Might be something to get checked out

It's certainly a good idea to try and find out what the specific cause is, and any unexplained rash should definitely be checked out by a doctor. But what does 30 years experience "rash free" have to do with anything? People that have more sensitive skin or specific allergies are more prone to rashes than those that don't. Both you and someone else could stick your arms in the same tank, and you could come out rash free while someone else gets a rash.

Never got a rash from tank water, but I do have very playful cats, which means occasional scratches...I'm pretty accident prone too and tend to injure myself almost regularly... Need to get me some long gloves for those times I reckon.
