Rate your plecos temperment

Iv got a 7" common plec. By day he hides, sucks glass, and swims about the bottom. I turned a peice of driftwood over on the gravel so its like his little hole. When I fed him at night when the other fish try and eat his food or get real close he trys to suck them and chase them out of the driftwood area. Anyone elses agressive during feeding?
 
No, our almost 6" syno ocel....is always sharing his food, now the 2 1/2" bn is another story...he will chase the others away from the wafers and pellets...:)
 
My brother has a 12" common, and he is the biggest thing in the tank so he swims up to the top and eats whatever he wants. But in my tank i have a 5" rhino pleco, and ive seen him chase awayother fish that have gotten too close. But the other catfish in my tank can be quite aggressive for food, especially my asian upside down catfish. So your pleco's actions are not uncommon
 
Yeah, a lot of plecos defend the food. Watauga's got a tiny little rubberlip who attempts to defend zuchini bigger than he is, from a gibby that's bigger than the zuchini. Does'nt work out very well, but he moves back in and eats once the gib settles.
 
My two clown pleco's have been caught in random fights lately. I have driftwood in the tank for them to hide in, but they were also used to a clay pot that was turned upside down with an opening. I took this out about a month or so ago for my Sterbai fry and this is when I've noticed the fighting. It always seems to be the lighter, ugly one that starts it. lol

My clown pleco - all 3" of him - definitely lets no one else near his food at feeding time. I've had him 5 or so years now, and he has pushed around Thoricythys maculipinnis, L. dorsigera, kribs, and now angels and corys.

He definitely has his hiding spot he'll defend, and whatever he is eating. Other than those two times/places, he leaves all the other fish alone.
