RCS producing blue shrimp?

I have been moving my RCS from one tank to another and I found 2 blue shrimp.

what should I do with these I do have some if you want to call them blues they are not very blue at all should I move these in with them?

The reds I have are so red they are almost maroon I don
't want to contaminate either strain.


What do you guys think?

I believe blue is a recessive trait in shrimp, at least in the cherries. It stands to reason that, given enough babies, you will end up with some genetic combination that will result in a blue color, given that you have a pair that carry the gene(s). If you can get enough of them, you could separate them and start line breeding to see if you can continue the coloration. If you leave them in there, I don't think they'd have much effect on hte rest of the stock, other than you might be a little more likely to get another blue once in a while.

Any chance you can get an image of the blues? Its entirely possible that its a wildtype coloration, in which case it could effect your red as the wild is dominant over red.

I've had my red produce wildtype which is brownish as well as a yellow before.. never a blue one but mutation is how all the different cherry shrimp colors same about
