Reading purpleangel's threads, I have a new Q

Hello Efors
you know i have been an african cichlid keeper for years now and i would most definitely say that the info you recieved here tonight is so true and what a nice selection of mbuna malawi cichlids you have chosen for your 55gal as a beginner, i do have to agree the albino socolofi are very much sissies than their blue counter parts, i have had both before in my time

Hello again, folks!
You are absolutely right, pittbull. The info given to me in this thread is of premium quality. Thanks to all of you guys!
I have been doing some "homework" in the last hours and have read that you should put in a tank, at least 6 fishes of each mbuna species. With the 4 species that we have chosen (aceis, yellow labs, rusties and albino pindanis), it will make a total of 24 fishes for a 55gal tank. Then, I have these questions and need your help again:
Is this a real posibility or is this overstocking?
If different, what is the maximum number of fishes that you suggest for each species in this tank?
Waiting for your help, thanks again. You have been great!

when it comes to african cichlids wether be malawi or tanganyika i always overstock it provides alot of different targets from aggression to be given to everyone instead of just one fish, when i overstock i also add a crap load of rocks large and small to create caves and tunnels so everyone has an out so to say also when overstocking weekly water changes is a must, my 55gal tanganyika is well overstocked i have four lelupi, 5 brichardi gracilis, 8 brevis, 5 multifasciatus, 3 black calvus, 2 yellow compressiceps and 2 synodontis decorus, i have alot of plants and several rocks piled forming several caves and tunnels, my 120gal african mix is definitely overstocked but in all, my systems are clean, clear and healthy, weekly water changes with gravel vac and filter maint on canisters once a month..
