real ocean water

I have used ocean water

ok, i'm going to be short and to the point with my answers and not go into to much detail. Ocean water can be great if you recieve it from the right location just as previous stated. No, water runoff from large companies, large populations of people contaminets etc... I recieved my water from a research facility in florida were I live. The water was siphoned from 60 yards or so from the mainland beneath the surface. One reason, alot of manucfactures place some sort of oils on thier products, which dosen't mix with the H20 thus floating the elements on the surface. the water was then pushed through 2 sand filters and a carbon filter and 1 other media i have fogotten. While i worked there we experimented with saltwater collected from the end of a peir. We filtered the water in a empty aquarium with UV sterelizer (for parasites) and 1 canister filter. The fish did fine when introduced tot eh tank but the pre-filtered salt water was the best thing ever. Fill up the bucket pour into the tank an your done, but i doubt that most have that kind of resource so, if you filter the water for a few days along with collecting beneath the surface 2-3 feet advisiable, you should be ok. If you have a big tank, than your up for a good workout.
