Ok guys I duno whats up. I have a really bad algee bloom I have tried crabs snails and even a sea slug. In one hour i have to wipe off the glass. I have 2 65w cp lights one strip 10k and the other Actinic. I have tried letting changing the times down to 8 hours a day and still. I have some polup coral and an ananeme so i dont want to use any chemiclas that may hurt them.. Is it possible that my well water is bad? Thanks in advanced.

Often algae blooms are caused by an excess of nutrients, plus too little circulation.

How much nitrate, phosphate and what kind of circulation have you got?

How long has the tank been set up?

tank has been set up for 2 months. The thing is I got the sand and water from the ocean. I have a rio 1700 pumping from the sump. I looked all over and it seems like there is no spots were the water is not circulating. Do you guys run the 10,000k bulbs and the Actinic bulbs at the same time or run one or the other. For example Actinic for 30 min and then 10,000k for the day and then Actinic again for 30 min DUSK DAWN, Thanks

IMO the algae bloom is a normal process for a newly set up tank. You may see more blooms of different types of algaes. This is why many of us try to preach patience with a SW tank. It takes about 1 year for a tank to stablize. I know you want the tank to be perfect but patience is key.

There's circulation and then there's circulation. It's great that there's some movement, but what you want is vigorous, surgy movement. A couple of powerheads in the main tank will help with that.

It would really help quite a bit to know a few things about the tank, like:
size
specific gravity
ammonia and nitrite (although I assume these are 0)
nitrate
phosphate (if you test)
livestock, if any

Do you guys run the 10,000k bulbs and the Actinic bulbs at the same time or run one or the other.
I have 65W daylight, and 65W actinic. The actinics are on for about 12 hours, and the daylight are on for 8 hours in the middle.
