What's an aquaclear hob? I'm not in on all of the fish lingo like some.

He's cut the box to fit the filter and heater, and is working on making some sort of light and a place to drop food in.

It varies depending on what size you get. They're usually around $30 - $50.

What's a cheap, but reliable filter? My friend has only around 120 bucks to spend.

and have none left over for fish ? jk jk just buy 3 guppies u'll have plenty of fish in a couplle of months.

On Topic; i have had a similar setup at a friends house to store my fish why i moved house works quiet well never had a problem with heater

I would say that if you can afford that filter, get a proper aquarium and a cheaper filter.... I enjoy my aquarium which cost less than $10 for a 10g, new. I bet you could get a glass 29 gallon for $50 in a post-Xmas sale of you look around.
