You should really read the product descriptions. Do not use the Tahitian Moon Sand with cories. It will destroy their barbels.

I don't know how much the sand goes for; look at some online vendor stores (don't forget to look at their shipping costs ;)).

A normal 20(H) isn't exactly ideal for a bottom dweller only tank, either. It's got a relatively small footprint.
 
Yeah, that's one reason I'm hoping to talk her into upgrading to a 55, even though we're staying in the Apt. It's a standard 20, not a 20 tall, although I like those for a "different" factor. Thanks for the info on the Tahitian Moon Sand and their barabels. Most pet stores around here don't carry much if any sand variety. :-\ And what I've seen so far tends to be "marine sand" which I've been told is meant for salt water environs, thus my questions.
 
Also, do you know if Kuhli Loaches be ok with the Black Onyx?
