recomended pumps?

i need pumps for this tank. i need one for the closed loop and for the return from the sump. it will be a softie reef. the overflow is 1.25 inches and the closed loop is 1 inch but i could go down on the closed loop ? dont want to spend more than 400.00 for both pumps but would rather spend 200.00 for both :grinyes: any suggestions are appreciated

The only way I can think of is to buy things used. You aren't going to get the circulation you need for $200 brand new. You could get away with $400 if you skimp on the return a bit--the closed loop will be more important in your case, anyway.

What size tank is this for? I have a Rio 17HF that I'm going to be using for my closed loop pump. Supposed to do 1700gph flat out, and I'm going to swap in the impeller from the 21HF (same pump body and motor, different impeller) to jack the flow up some. The 17HF was 60 bucks new and its served me well as a return pump so far.
