Recommend me a good algae eater

i would also suggest buying a wackload more plants that suck nutrients out of the water readily (read: 'steal' nutrients from the algae). stem plants are great for this, although i don't have any in my tanks that are algae free.

I have an algae issue in a tank and solved it thus. Got an albino bn pleco for my 40g and so far he's got 1/2 the tank clean in a week. Plus I ordered some nerites from bob and they should be here soon to help. Nerites can be touchy if wild caught from what I've read but should be ok for ya.

I do have one nerite.
Wanted to menton, the algae problem isn't out of control, just seems to accumulate after a week or more. To answer a previous question, I do a weekly water chang of about 25%. I can clean the algae easily enough, but it's kinda of annoying to take out my rocks and driftwood every week or two.
I'll take the advice here, shorten the lighting time, and start filling the tank with plants. Thanks.

instead of removing wood or rocks, just get in there with a toothbrush in one hand and your gravel vac in the other. as you brush the algae off, hover the gravel vac nearby and suck it out as it is freed from surfaces.

I use as little light as needed. Too much light is asking for algae. forget the co2 for now and stock up on plants until you get the algae controlled better. your on the right track, less than 10hrs. of light is plenty. I dont know what your T5 bulbs kelvin rating is but some of those T5s are too bright for me, cuz my tanks arent as heavily planted as I would like. My loach destroys plants so my light is very dim,too dim for algae
