What types of fish would be good for a 15-20 gallon tank? And how many of them? I would like some fish at all parts of the tank eg. top, bottom and middle. Thanks.
I would choose one fish and which i miss mine dearly is a Bronze pufferfish  they have the most personality of all the fish. With alot of waterchanges then they can live for 15+yrs and they can live their full life in a 20 gal. they only get 4"....but that would be the only fish you can have with it they are real aggressive...
OR
you can do some dwarf puffers(pea puffers) they only get about 1" so you could do about 5 or so of them but they also need a good amount of waterchanges. But you can add other fish in with them like plecos or what not...
platys stay around the top of the tank most of the time.
you are going to want some tetras for the middle of the tank, pretty much any kind of tetra (common tetras, like nones, cardinals, black skirts, etc.) you want, except for congos
Another interesting fish that would inhabit the bottom of the tank is the khuli loach. These guys need to be in groups, but they stay small so you could easily have a group of four or five in your tank. Khuli loaches have great personalities.
