Anyone have some great experience to share with carpeting plants, preferably without CO2? I was thinking of getting some java moss or willow moss, and maybe some micro swords for 2 10 gallon tanks, but I'd love suggestions!

Depends on your definition of "carpeting"...but dwarf sags (Sagittaria subulata) are pretty easy and spread like mad when happy (decent light, no CO2 needed). The only problem is that under lower light they can stretch and wont stay as compact to the ground. Even the smallest might look a bit too big in a 10 gal.
