recycled water

This is one of the big reasons I switched back to fresh water.

With my reef tanks, water changes went down the drain. The only plants that can tolerate salt water are mangroves, and they aren't very attractive.

Water that's siphoned from a fresh water tank however is *ideal* for house plants and gardens. Water pulled from established fresh water tanks is usually full of nitrate, which plants love, and if you gravel vac, full of organic waste that's starting to break down. I know a few fish stores that fill 5gallon buckets for plant enthusiasts.

Considering this 'waste' water is lower in pH, full of nitrate, and devoid of chlorine/chloramine, it's better for plants than water from your tap.

And as mentioned above, if you have nitrite/ammonia in any appreciable amounts, you have a serious problem.

There is very little ammoina or nitrite in tank water
Depends how old your tank is. Mine is just past the one week mark, so the water's ammonia content has just come off it's peak.

Agreed. The ammonia (if any) contained in the tank water would leach out very quickly. The fish poop on the other hand....well, that's the gift that just keeps on giving.
