Red algae on back glass

No problem, hope it helps. I'd definately advise to test for phosphates aswell though. Are you using RO or tap water?
 
Adding another powerhead will certainly clear the back glass off, however, you still need to get to the root cause of the algae...That is of course, if it not coralline algae as mentioned above...What is the nitrate reading of your source water?

if its fairy new tank. then it shouldnt be a problem if you take control of it

its normal to see all different kinds of algae. i already went through diatom and green algae and now red slim
 
Nitrates are at 15. I tried doing a little scraping it wasn't hard. So I guess it isn't coraline. I do have one of those ancient skilters. And I am like cleaning the floss everyother day. Could these nasty filters have anything to do with this. Could I just take them out all together? The skimmer part of it seems to be working pretty well though.
