I just got this little guy on Wednesday... any suggestions on how to keep him healthy and happy??? ( above and beyond regular maintenance and such)

I also picked up a Black Ghost knife ( he is so awesome).. any suggestions on him too???

I believe all crabs commonly sold need to be kept in brackish water. Other than that it's hard to give any advice without knowing which species you are dealing with. Any chance you can post a pic?

As with the BGK...what size tank is this?

All I know is what others said, crabs are usually brackish and they all need to be able to climb out of the water to get air. BGKs grow to 20" and need quite a large tank, other than that just make sure he has plenty of hiding places.

About the crab all i know most are brackish and i think some need a little perch to climb out of the water on. As for the ghost knife, they get HUGE, you need a large tank, they like brine shrimp , bloodworms and some will eat flakes. They are very shy and prefer somewhere covered to hide like a cave, or pvc, or ghost hides tha cna be bought from stores. A nice piece of slate slanted up to the glass would be nice that way he feels safe and you can enjoy seeing him. They will eat smaller fish when thy are bigger.

i imagine that if you are keeping them in the same tank, that crab will lose at least a couple legs to the ghost knife, if not its life. knifefish have very strong jaws and surprisingly large mouths, and they spend a big part of their time sniffing and mouthing everything (at least mine does). if it smells like it could be food, and seems bite-sized, they're going to give it a try.

I'd think it'd be the other way around where the crab will nip the ghost knife tille the crab sheds and then the tables will be turned
