Unless you have an invert only tank, don't expect the population to go wild. Fortunately for me, I currently have 4 berried females, out of the 12 or so total shrimp I have. They are living with Endlers, which will need to be removed soon if I want the little ones to thrive.

My water parameters are 0,0,0 GH<1, KH<1 and pH of 7. I add baking soda to increase the KH to keep the pH stable.

Hope this helps.

I have to say, I have 9 hengeli rasboras (they look a lot like small harlequin rasboras) in a 10 gallon. It's heavily planted. there is a ton of willow hygro and java moss. My shrimp have gone from about a dozen originally to at least 150 or more in a year. I think the java moss is really key to them surviving to a large enough size to avoid the fishy mouths. I my very newbie limited experience, it's possible to have them with fish, you just have to have a lot of cover.

That's encouraging! They should have enough moss to hide in! (I hope) Thanks for the insight.
