Red Cherry Shrimp

The RCS do very well with priority shipping (about two to three days). But I strongly recommend that wherever you buy them wait until after the Christmas rush--less chance of delay or loss and the point is to get healthy stock after all. Most sellers here sell their shrimps for $1 apiece plus shipping which is usually around $7-$15 but varies by sellers. Much less than what the LFS sell them for and they tend to be healthier from breeders here on AC. I do not have an ad running in the Marketplace section (I do sell mine though all the time) but other sellers do have ads up.

You should check out how to keep the RCS--feeding-- or overfeeding-- is one really big issue with shrimps and is the main topic that I suggest you read up on!! Research your shrimps and their keeping conditions. There are lots of places here on AC that you can read up about RCS and lots of info on the net. Here are a few links that I like:

Sweeet!! They sell for a bunch also. At pet store they are like 5 bucks. I am planning on getting a 100gal mbauna tank so will have to wait a while to get a 20gal shrimp tank for breeding and selling. Side cash. Can you ship shrimps in like 3-4 days shipping or 1-2 day not the 24hour or overnight to save money?

You could have the shrimps sent priority mail, but I would wait till the weather conditions got warmer or try to order them from someone who will have heatpacks to use when they ship your shrimp. You could even see if anyone had them locally so you could pick them up yourself. :)

:iagree: You will need a seller that uses heatpacks if getting them by post and in a most self-promoting way I will say that I have heatpacks :p: and use insulated boxes :grinyes:

How many RCS live in a batch of RCS??? Like how many first hatched and then how many survive?

Oh dear. Hard to count so many teeny tiny babies. Perhaps a fifty to one hundred or more. It really depends upon many things like the age of the shrimp, previous berries, water conditions etc., The babies are about one millimeter when they hatch out. They are very, very tiny creatures. Very cute too! Cherry shrimp look like miniature adult shrimps when they are released.

Nope. The general thought is that the babies mostly eat the biofilm that grows on and in our tanks. As they grow they will transition to the foods that we offer in the form of veggies, premade commercial foods and organic things like decaying plant material and dead shrimps/snails in the tanks.

I do feed some other shrimps that I keep special foods but it is not necessary for them to live. They can live feeding off of regular fish foods but I want my shrimps to thrive. But none of the babies need any special care or foods.
