Red eye puffers talk to me about em

when i do the search, i clicked on the first one and if you read the information it says that the fish are aggressive and are fin nippers. Mine aren't doing that

Well i want to be able to keep other fish in the tank and with cichlids everyone says you can't keep anything else with them... and i did think that puffers were mean... did i just get non-aggressive ones or are they all like that

what size tank are they in? is it cycled? are the fish juveniles?

answers to those questions might help with your issues here.

they're juveniles and the tank has been set up for more than a month, i just changed the bio bag a week before i got them and i have been doing routine water changes... Oh and its a 29g tall. it is pretty bare though, a lot of room for swimming. i havent had the time to get plants yet.

dwarf puffers don't eat other fish. Red eye puffers don't eat other fish. The guy at the store lied to you. They may get territorial and kill the other fish but they won't eat them. No you can't force them to become territorial. take the feeder fish out of the tank before they make you other fish sick. Red eye puffers and dwarf puffers eat mainly snails, blood worms and krill.

they might kill the feeders, maybe not. killing isn't their prerogative. If they're juveniles now, as they mature, depending on the mix of genders, they may become more aggressive to each other.

why do you want the puffers to kill them. is that the only reason you are keeping them in the tank? so you can take humor in their slaughter? i hope thats not the case. bcuz thats just cruel. and what you have been told on here is corect. they will get more territorial and "mean" as they age. bcuz they are small puffer species, they should be fine in the 29g without to much territorial problems. as they get older youll need to put in more plants to break the lines of sight, that way they dont kill each other. if they cant see each other. they wont fight. the cories shouldnt be bothered.
