I recently bought 3 red eyed tetras (got them about 2 weeks ago.) from a local petsmart. I didn't know much about them, but the person told me that they had to be kept in groups of 3 minimum, so I bought 3. Unfortunately, It seems the guy was wrong because they chase after each other quite often, establish a hierarchy. It's not overly violent, and I have no reason to fear that someone will be bullied to death but it is frequent.

The main problem is feeding. It seems that one keeps the other two in check during the feeding frenzy, not allowing them to eat. One is large enough to chase back, so they both end up getting enough food in their bellies. I am, however, worried about the one that appears to be the weakest. During feeding he simply hides behind a plant, and if he comes out he's chased back into it. I haven't seen him eat at all, and he's becoming smaller than the other 2 redeyes in the tank.

Is this cause for much concern, or do you think he'll be ok? Is it possible he's grabbing scraps off the bottom of the tank later while i'm not around?

Buying more is not an option- im already overstocked.
