Hi,

I have a 55g tank that I just cycled with 6 zebra danio and 6 red eye tetra. I really wanted to get some gourami, so I bought three flame dwarf gourami. When I put them in the tank the red-eye tetra stated chasing them around the tank and nipping at them. Basically I freaked out and took the gouramis back to the store. Now I need to know what to do? Are the red eye tetra normally aggressive? could it be because I only have 6 of the tetra? I really want to have some gouramis, so I am thinking of getting a different kind of tetra other than the red -eyes. was I right in taking the gouramis back immediately or could it just have been a "new fish in the tank" behavior? I'm confused.... any thoughts anyone?

Yeah, they are. I'd take them back to the store, replace them with a nicer fish and buy back your gourami.

Thanks for the "nudge", I exchanged the red-eye for 7 lemon tetra and they are great, they are schooling constantly and are very mellow. I got three gourami's (powder blue dwarf, red dwarf, gold) and all is peaceful and I am so happy! Thanks!
