Hello I have just bought a RETF and I am having a problem with the tank hood. I have a 20gal high glass tank. I have about 3 gal. of water on the bottom for fish. My problem is the hood. I first tried a screen hood and covered about have with a thin plastic and had a clamp lamp on top w/ a 60watt bulb. It heated the tank but I could not keep the humidity in. I now have a all glas hood with a fish tank hood light. It keeps the heat and humidity but it is too humid in there now. What can i doo for a lid/hood??? Any help??? This is the way that I want to set my tank up so I just need help with the hood. Thank you.

I would use a screen top covered w/ as much plastic wrap needed to retain correct humidity.

I have a 75 watt bulb in a clamp light hood above mine. I have a wire mesh screen top which I saran wrapped over, sealing it. My humidity is around 100%, temperature is around 80F. I have a 10 gallon tank.

For 20 gallons, I'd go with a 100 watt bulb at an angle in a clamp light, or a 60 watt bulb with an undertank heater.

You can also use an ultrasonic mister, but it tends to lower your temperature drastically. You'd need to use lots of light, too much IMO.

I'd saran wrap over most or all of the top of your tank lid to keep humidity up.
