Red Finned Loach or Rainbow Shark?

Epalzeorhynchus Frenatus is the rainbow shark, Epalzeorhynchus Bicolor is the red tailed shark. Either one I think would be unsuitable to have two in a 55g. I say that because mine is in constant motion gliding all over the tank. It wouldnt take much for them to run into each other constantly, plus your hiding spots wont help much unless its simply for the one getting bullied. Mine only hits his cave when its bedtime. hope Im still helpin ;)

1.Thanx to everyone for posting! :) It's fine if I can only have one. What are some of the things I should do to prepare my tank for this fish?
2. How dense does the planting need to be?
I ask because my plants are still somewhat sparse, but I can wait until they grow in more.
3. How expensive in general is this type of fish?

I dont think there is really much you need to do to prepare for either of them. The plants dont need to be dense either. Like I said prior, mine likes a cave for bedtime, but I dont think that is a necessity. In oregon they run about 3-5 bucks

Thanx FlyFly, the only other thing that concerns me is the safety of my other fish. I know that the white clouds will be fine, they move extremely fast. But my danios and kulis are a bit slower.

BTW, which species would you recommend for my tank?

Redtailed Black Shark,
Rainbow Shark,
or the Redfin Loach?

The main things I want to avoid are the age agression, and major damage to other fish.

I have 2 red fin loaches and they just got the boot back to the pet store for agression. I put them in my piranha tank to get rid of snails and they harrassed and bullied my piranhas 24/7. I would NOT reccomend these fish unless they were in a species specific tank. I have a 6 inch rainbow shark and he/she is a great fish.......go with the shark i say........LOL :thm:
