red hair algea

i have like a dark red/maroon algea on my rocks and sand and quite a bit of what looks to be red hair algae not sure if this is good or bad.. water prems are fine i have 150 M/H on for about 11 hours a day:werd:

Do you have a photo? Might be cyano

It looks like cyano to me. I have the same problem with one rock. Here's the thread. The links in it should help...

Do you have a skimmer? What kind of flow do you have? How about clean-up crew? You can cut your MH lighting down to 8 hours or more at this point, depending on corals.

i agree with 5XEVY...it certainly is cyano....and the lighting of 8 hours is more than enough....

yes i have skimmer and the flow is about 1200 gals an hour i will cut lights down to 8 hours clean up crew snails and blue legs still need more of them ie red legs

Do you happen to have a phosphate test? What kind of water are you using?

i use ro water when toping up and water change i think my po3 is a bit high
