Folks:
I have recently (a week ago) received approximately 50 Crystal red shrimp (Caridina sp), Grade C.
They came as "very, very little devils (ie. barely visible)" but are growing*.
I have them in a 5G with very a rudimentary mechanical and biowheel filtration process.
I maintain pristine water conditions in the tank with Ph = 7 and Gh = 8 via 90% daily WC's from my main tank.
The temperature is 78F.
I am feeding brine shrimp, beef heart mixture and TetraMin Tropical Flakes (1/2 teaspoon 3 times/day, ie. mornings brine shrimp, noon beef heart, late afternoon Flakes).
I have a substantial quantity of floating plants in the tank.
I also have 1 Guppy Male and 3 Guppy Females in the tank as well as 6 high end koi angel fish (a triple cross with two parents who were imported from Germany) who are only now barely visible.
Does anyone know of anything else which I need "to be doing" in order to promote growth (which means to me make them happy shrimpies)?
TR
Additional Items:
The tanks which I have available to "move them and the angels to" are another 5G as well as a 50G which I anticipate ordering this week and ultimately my main tank (110G).
I cannot move the shrimp to my main tank until they are substantially larger as my main tank, which is community, includes 2 Ea 4" black angels.
Also I anticipate rehoming 25 of the shrimp to a large community aquarium at a retirement project community center when they become adults.
