Red sores on my Shubunkin

I am new to keeping fish and I don't know what is happening to my fish, they all have red marks/sores on both sides of their bodies between the anal fin and the dorsal fin. On some the reddness is patchy as if the fish is changing color.

The fish are sluggish and spend a good amount of time near the surface.

I have treated the aquarium with salt at the rate of 1 tablespoon per 5 gallons of water and I am feeding them anti-parasitic medicated food.

Does anyone have any idea of what they have and how to rid them of it.

Tank size and water readings?
What is your maintenance schedule?

The fish have redness at the base of the fins, or... red streaking in the fins and/or body. Your fish are affected by Hemorrhagic Septicemia

Round reddish enflamed areas, 38mm in diameter, are visible on the skin
These are sucking marks made by leeches, which often attack the fish only at night, then hide during the day

One fish, or many fish appear to have red streaking through the body and/or fins

Inflammation- All fish are open to this. When a fish is subjected to waste product buildup in the tank in which they reside they may show signs of inflammation. Symptoms- Reddening on or under the fish's skin over part or the entire body. Fishes behave normal at first then quickly show signs of a problem and die. Treatment- Purchase an antibiotic such as nifurpirinol, etc. Follow directions as stated on the package. Advanced cases will clear up in a short time!

Red Fins- Fins that are very red with dilated vessels or a reddish tinge to them can be the signs of several things:

* Bacterial infection
* Nitrate poisoning
* Ammonia or Nitrite accumulation
* Parasites
* Stress
