If someone is a top breeder of Festae and can't tell the difference, he isn't a top breeder after all. Festae purist almost never get it wrong, of which i am. Been one since 1977. The differences between Wild/F1 Festae and Uros are unmistakeable. 3rd generation and on I don't buy because the colors really become diluted by then due to inbreeding, poor diet, and inexperienced hobbyist. Pond bred Festae also tend to wash out in coloration over time. Farm bred specimens from genetically different stock is a very good 3rd option after wild caught and F1.
If you've owned both species you'd also know that they have different behavioral and environmental habits. The fighting styles and breeding dress are different. If you've never fallen in love with Festae, then you might get fooled by an exceptionally colored Uro. But once you've gotten the True Festae fever, even the best looking Uros will never measure up.
