Red Texas???

Ive seen both the texas from texas and the texas from central mexico but have you guys seen what they have done??? The have now made a red texas I dont like how this hobby keeps messing with these fishes genes and changing colors by selective breeding and cross breeding making mutt and deformed fish how do you feel on this??? Its a stunning red fish. Probably would make a great centerpiece fish in a tank of cichlids that can hold their own. That being said, I don't think there will be much confusion between this fish and a normal texas like there is between trimac and some flowerhorn.

I really don't mind it as long as they stay within one species. When you use two totally different species like a parrot of flowerhorn, then that's too far. As far as my knowledge goes, if you are against, this fish, then you are against many types of angles, discus, guppies, swords and platies.

I agree that it is a stunning fish. It looks like a Blood Parrot and Texas mix. It probably will be autioned in Asia from $500 to $1000. If it develops a sizable hump, it probably will worth one more figure. In US, however, most cichlid experts will tell you to euthanize the fish. One man's trash is another man's treasure.

from what i have heard from people that have them, they are VERY $$$$.

Most of the red texas look nothing like the picture.
that would be the best fish out of the bunch, and i'm about 75% sure it was touched up to look better.

I my self am undecided on the hybred fish.
as long as that say they are cross bred then i wouldn't have a problem with that. You know fish stores will not say Hybred or cross bred when they sell them to newbies or people not knowing! I.E. Blood parret! that was one of the first fish i got when starting the hobby, and knowone told me they where crossbred, and will not reperduce. I do love my BP and still have him to this day, but i sould have been told or atleast had on the tag - hybred I know I should have read before, but thats a newbie mistake, and it happens alot.

I do feel the hybred fish are on a lower class as others,
and i well always feel that way.
at one point it brings down the hoddy, but also how are we to say what can and can't be done.
If someone dosen't like hybreds don't buy them.
I do think there should be a new class of fish.
- african cichlids, south american, central american, etc..
and Hybred cichlids.

Yeah they are expensive oh and to an earlyier post I do dislike most guppies sword discus and other fish like that. The only discus Ive really ever liked was one that was wild caught which was like a nickel in size for $150. I prefer the natural look then the altered look.
