I'm just wondering what others here would think is a better, or more interesting fish. Also, does one of them 'get along' better with live plants?

How big of a tank is it? They're both pretty dirty, but the Cichla is going to move around more, and he's going to get bigger. On the other hand, I don't think the Cichla is as prone to tossing plants around like underwater beach balls as an oscar WILL do.

I'm just curious of the 2 in comparison. I used to have Oscars - great fish with 'personality'. The tank I would get is from 80 to 120 gallons. (not that I'm getting one soon.. I have an 80 with Discus now...just wondering.)

In that case, the Peacock Bass is out. The smallest species will reach 18" and require much larger tank.

I agree. Probably at least a 180 is needed for a peacock (small). I'd go with the 120 and you could put two oscars in there with good filtration and maintenance.

Ok......

After reading the posts and looking around... Never mind the thought of Peacock Bass.....
