Did you go to Jekyll Island or Tybee for the fireworks? I went to one of those islands last year for the 4th, can't remember which. It was so cool (and way too windy) being on the beach with such beautiful displays up above Very nice pics, love the frog!

I wish I would've gone to Jekyll, but then again, it would probably be packed beyond reason haha. Those pictures were from Jekyll.

Success!

Wooooo.

Tried the 'canister filter' out for a run and it works beautifully, no leaks... although the silicone on top is falling off :/

Going to glob it all over the top.

Also adding some floss later, and some other media if I can find it.

I cut a piece of sponge to fit the general shape of the bottle (a P shape) but it was AMAZINGLY hard to get out. I tied some fishing line around it before hand and it snapped the 25 lb test haha... Or should I say, my muscles did :headbang2: Haha, jk. Luckily I had some pliers laying around because it was stuck in there good.

(sorry, I'm a bit excited, every other DIY I had failed... this one probably will too, but I'll enjoy it for now)

that frog reminded me when I used to live in GA I had the same tiny green frog living in my bathroom. I took him outside couple of times, tried to set him free, but he returned few days later or so, back to the same spot. little brain but remembered where he lived and even knew how to get back.

Haha, I've thought about keeping one, but when you have them all around you, it's not really that entertaining to see them in a cage...

Now that I think about it, if we had neons and all the exotic fish around where we live, it wouldn't be that big of a deal to keep them : /

Well, I'm done with my DIY 'canister' filter.

I left it running over a week (a little more) and there haven't been any leaks, so I've declared it safe to use.

Still need to figure out a way to hide it better, probably going to put up a black background on my tank.

(a big thanks to weird al yancovich and publix beach ball for being my stand for the filter :] )

And a FTS with the filter.
Hopefully my plants will fill in soon now that I have my new lights (I swear, this is one of the most DIY tanks ever)

Here's just a few random pics.

My helmet after... oh... only 8 days of camp
It was completely re-conditioned when I got it at the beginning.
I'm going to take pictures of it every week that I'm practicing to keep tabs on how screwed it gets over this season.
(and no, the scratches aren't from people hitting me, it's from me hitting someone else :] )

My mom decided to talk to some city workers and tell them about a sinkhole that opened up on the easement of our neighbors house... So I sat in the car and luckily I had my camera to keep my boredom at bay.

The clock in our car is messed up. (HURRY UP MOM, IT'S 12:6r!!!!)

Nevermind on the filter, it leaked...

Going to either seal it up REALLY good, or just trash it : /
